FAQs

Here are some answers to questions we often hear from clients

Do I Really Need a Lawyer?

It depends on your situation. While some legal matters can be handled without an attorney, many involve complex issues, deadlines and paperwork that are best navigated with legal guidance to avoid costly mistakes.

What Should I Bring to My Initial COnsultation?

Bring any relevant documents, a list of your questions or concerns and information about any people or entities involved in your situation, including their full names and addresses. The more information you give your attorney, the better their advice.

How Much Does It Cost to Hire a Lawyer?

Costs vary depending on the type and complexity of your case, as well as on the experience level of your attorney. Some matters are billed hourly, while others are flat fee or contingent. Your attorney should discuss billing clearly at your consultation.

What is Probate, and Do I Have to Go Through It?

Probate is the legal process of settling an estate in court after someone dies. Whether you need probate depends on the type of assets and how they were owned. A properly prepared estate plan can often avoid the probate process altogether.

Do You Offer Free COnsultations?

We do not offer free consultations. Our standard consultation rate is $350, but in some circumstances this will be credited toward estate planning work that we do. If you have MetLife legal insurance, then the consultation is free for you.

Why Do I have to Fill Out Intake Forms?

The more information we have when we initially meet, the better the advice we can give you. Our intake forms are designed to get us the information that will help us get a fuller picture of your needs, so that our meeting can be spent analyzing your situation, instead of information gathering.
